Since I've been rather busy lately, I thought I'd go with somthing relatively straightforward for my next project and stumbled on a wonderful piece of concept by Vera Velichko with her potion bottle concept line. Not only were the colours striking, but I hadn't really run Marmoset 4 through a good glas rendering test and wanted to have a go with the new raytracing options.
While it did take more time than I'd like getting the glass to work *just right* with the emissive, I'm happy with how it finally turned out!
The key in the end was assigning a modified version of the orignal glass material to the inside of the bottle with material ID's to dampen down the ramped up emissive map needed to punch through the frosted glass effect.
It was great fun getting to use Zbrush for a non organic piece for once and low key I love how textured the cork has turned out with relatively little work! The only thing I'd like for next time is to give myself more time to map and twist out the knots and string with zpheres rather than cheating my way through in 3ds Max.
Check out Vera's wonderful work here, within is a truly vast collection of wonderful work of all types, shapes and themes : https://www.artstation.com/vera_velichko
